Weather: Fog until Alaska/Yukon border. Partly cloudy and warm until the St. Elias Mountains and then overcast and cold.

This was a very long day of riding. I hoped to catch the Alaska Marine Highway ferry in the evening and ride it to Prince Rupert, BC as an alternative to the Alaska Highway on the return trip. I had no reservation, but several fellow travelers had told me I should have no trouble getting on as a standby passenger since I was on a bike. I awoke before dawn and left just as the sun was rising.

Tens of thousands of acres of forest near Tok had been recently ravaged by wildfire.

Just after crossing the border back into the Yukon Territory the road quality worsened considerably. This sign gave fair warning.

This fellow was standing at the roadside as I approached. I slowed down to a crawl and he paced me for about 100 yards before ducking into the woods.

Here are a few scenes of Kluane Lake and the surrounding area.
