Caught Speeding in Tennessee

As I recall, it went something like this:

After breaking camp, I was riding east on Tennessee 100 and approaching a hill.
A police car topped the hill from the opposite direction and I glanced at
my speedometer: Just below 70 mph.

About a minute later, I saw blue lights flashing behind me so I pulled over and
shut off the engine. He got out of the patrol car, glanced at the sign on the rear
of the bike, and walked over to me.

"I clocked you doing 68 in a 55 zone back there."
"I don't doubt it. I was accelerating for the hill."
"May I see your driver's license?"

He took my license and sat in his car for a few minutes. I sat on the bike and
wondered how much the ticket was going to cost. Then he walked back to me.

"I see you're travelling. Have you been to Alaska on that?"
"Yes, I have. I'm on my way home now."
"Do you mean to tell me you rode this on the Alaska Highway?"
"Yes, I did."
"Well, then. You're almost home. How many miles have you ridden?"
"Almost 10,000."
"Have you had any other incidents where you've been pulled over on this trip?"
"No."
"I'm going to let you go. If you can make it all the way to Alaska and back on
a motorcycle with no other incidents, you're obviously not a threat to society.
By the way, I've always wanted to do something like that myself..."

We chatted for a few minutes about motorcycles and long distance touring and
then he walked back to his car.

"Have a safe trip."
"Thanks."
