I'm still very much in
the planning stages of a modern stereo for the Falcon. It came with an in-dash
AM radio and a single speaker located at the top center of the dash between the
defroster vents. Custom Autosound manufactures several modern audio solutions for classic vehicles, including in-dash radios/cassette players, remote CD changers, and kick panel speakers. I'm leaning towards an in-dash radio/cassette player, possibly from Custom Autosound. However, there will be no CD player. As I've converted my entire music collection to MP3 files on my computer, a trunk-mounted hard-drive MP3 player will be used instead. The Neo 35 Car Jukebox player is one contender. Another possibility is a Linux-based homemade MP3 player. I plan to install speakers in the kick panels and the rear package tray. A trunk-mounted amplifier is also under consideration. Update: I decided on the Neo 35 Car Jukebox player to handle the MP3 collection. An order for one was placed with Scott of HotMP3Gear.com. Scott is a good guy, very knowledgeable, and highly recommended as a vendor. It turns out that the in-dash aftermarket stereos will not fit due to the Falcon's chrome dash plastic. Custom Autosound's Secret Audio unit is now the leading receiver/amplifier contender. |
