Leaving Home

Leaving home the morning of Tuesday, June 5.

The tank bag contains a helmet and rainsuit for inclement weather, maps, camera, and other items that may require frequent access. It can be detached in a few seconds and easily carried using its built-in hand strap.

The four bags behind me contain a dome tent, sleeping bag, sleeping ground pad, and folding chair. Food, stove, and mess kit are in the trunk. One of the side bags contains clothes, towels, etc. The other side bag contains a tool kit, leather jacket, denim jacket, and sneakers. Other miscellaneous items are stored in the fairing.

Notice the long sleeve shirt and gloves. These are for protection from the sun.

This is very close to the same configuration used on my trip to Alaska in 1990.
