Day 13 Continued

Tok River, AK.

Outside the state-run 24-hour welcome center, Tok, AK. The welcome center had a staff of friendly people, stuffed wildlife exhibits, road condition updates, and free coffee.

After setting up camp, I met my neighbors, an elderly couple traveling in an RV. They were very nice folks and insisted I join them for breakfast the next morning, which I did. The lady repeatedly told me I was doing the right thing by seeing Alaska and having such an adventure while I was still young enough to really enjoy it. I detected a trace of regret in her voice. Viewers, take note: carpe diem.
